Ajji movie tell the story of a woman in her 60's and her peculiar life in a village near Bhusawal in Maharashtra, India. The film is about the neglect and abuse of Ajji, which despite its seriousness, does not stop her from developing kindness for other people. The story tells about the poverty and violence that many Indian women suffer daily. It also explores how India's patriarchal society inflicts pain on them when they try to break free from tradition or just when they want to be treated as equals with men. Ajji is about one woman’s quest for liberation against all odds. It is the story of a widow, who after the death of her husband starts living alone and doing everything on her own. For this reason, she is called “Ajji” (which literally means "aunt"). She has an insatiable need to be independent and support herself. Music for this film is by [[HiteshModgill]]. The music was released on [[Nostalgia (music company)|Nostalgia's YouTube channel]] on 19 January 2017. This film is getting mixed reviews from critics. Rajeev Masand of News18 gave the film just 1 star out of 5, saying that the film is “one of the most irresponsible movies ever made in Indian cinema.” However, Vikramaditya Motwane stated that his concerns are overblown. "I do feel the criticism is a bit excessive... I think it has not been hyperbolic enough. But I can understand that if people are outraged, then they will be.
